So I’m browsing through the news on the net yesterday morning and I see John McCain gets key endorsement. So being interested in being informed on whats going on in politics I read the story to see Joe Lieberman standing right next to John McCain. The second I saw his face I thought, no way, but of course it was right. Senator Joe Lieberman , a Democratic Senator for years now an independent from Connecticut gave his endorsement to a Republican John McCain in the Presidential election.
Now I understand that they have been friends for years but for years now Joe Lieberman’s party allegiance has been questioned time and time again. His vies are more conservative then even a moderate Democrat and he is one of the few if only Democrat who publicly supports the war in Iraq. After losing the Democratic primary for Senator to Ned Lamont he becomes an independent and runs for senator any how and wins. Now I always said this will be a mistake re-electing Joe Lieberman again . Joe Lieberman was a great Senator for a long time but he lost touch with his constituency and seemed to be more concerned with the white house then doing his duties as Senator of Connecticut.
This is clearly an attempt to get an administrative job in the White House and all John McCain had to do is wave a carrot in front of Joe Lieberman that he would be in the White House. At this point I wouldn’t be surprised if John McCain picked Joe Lieberman as his running mate next year.
For years Joe Lieberman has said he is a democrat and there is nothing to worry about, however I guess that old saying is true.
If it walks looks like a duck, walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, it must be a Republican…

Well the Mitchell Report is out and all hell has broken loose in the baseball world. The chair of the report , George Mitchell has put faces to all this steroid business and the media is like sharks circling its prey, or are they? It seems to me that there is not nearly the frenzy there was when it was just Barry Bond’s name out there but that is the cards dealt to Bonds, and it isn’t like he is the most approachable person in the world. That doesn’t take away from the fact that the media might as well come out and say that Barry Bonds will never get into the hall. I would be surprised if he even gets on a ballot for a long time.
The Mitchell Report brought a lot of people out and some locks for the Hall of Fame before this report. I wonder if Roger Clemens or Andy Petite will get the same blackballing that Bonds certainly will get when it comes time to get into the Hall. It is clear that this is a witch hunt but I think the Major League Baseball Association should certainly be the biggest entitly accountable for this mess. The MLB ignored this problem for so long that there had to be outside intervention on this matter and that is the biggest sign on an opinion that this was no pressing issue to MLB. Heads definately should role but the first ones should be the front office on the MLB.
Another one of my problems with this whole steriod issue is the opinion that this steroid issue has tainted a “Clean Sport”. When has baseball ever been a clean sport? There is a ban on Shoeless Joe Jackson from the early 1900s for fixing games in the World Series. There has always been a player gambling problem in baseball, there has been always been drug use in baseball There has always been racism in basball. No today its not the Jackie Robinson racism but a more subtle form of it. Any one Remember Al Campanis, well in 1987 he was interviewed on ABC by Ted Kopel and on the 40th anniversity of the Intergration of Major League baseball Campanis asked why there were not more Blacks managing baseball teams and Al Campanis said ” that blacks “may not have some of the necessities to be, let’s say, a field manager, or, perhaps, a general manager” and to justify that statement he said in the interview that blacks are often poor swimmers “because they don’t have the buoyancy.” Say What??????
But baseball has been a clean sport…..

There is no love that is stronger or more unconditional than a mother and child. It is a bond that can pass any test. This story is the best example of the above statement. Alexis Goggins, a 7 year-old first grader is hero because she put herself in harms way to say her mother from gunshots. Selietha Parker and Alexis Goggins were kidnapped at gunpoint by Calvin Tillie , who dated Selietha Parker for 6 months. Selietha Parker drove Tillie and Alexis Goggins to the gas station to get some gas before drive to Six Mile Road where Parker said she knew that he would kill them if she drove to the location. She stalled at the location and call 911 and the 911 agent told her they had no units in the area to send. The gas station attended noticed that Parker was crying and asked her what was wrong and she told him and he call 911 again.
Moments later there were gunshots. Selietha Parker was grazed in the head and in a moment of heroism Alexis Goggins used her body as a shield and put herself between the gunman Tillie, and Selietha Parker. The coward Tillie did not hesitate to shoot again and shot Alexis Goggins 6 times wounding her in the eye, left temple, chin, cheek, chest and right arm. A police officer was minutes away and arrived as Tillie was trying to flee.
First off I hope that Calvin Tillie gets his just punishment and never sees the light of day for being the monster that he has shown that he is capable of being. Secondly what the heck is wrong with these 911 agents? They continue to verify why I have no faith in that system and yet this is another reason why that Public Enemy song “911 is a joke” is one of my favorite songs. This system is has always had problems with sensitivity towards callers and there has to be a serious overhaul of the system.
Lets send a lot of prayers up for Alexis Goggins and Selietha Parker. Ms. Parker was treated and release and by the bedside of Alexis Goggins.
Get Well Alexis!!!
